The nearby local towns of Twisp and Winthrop have lovely and varied shops, museums, plus an active theater, terrific farmers markets, and all the service and supports businesses you would expect. Area schools are top notch, with low teacher to student ratios.

The Upper Valley has a very active artist community centered around several galleries and Twisp Works. The Merc Playhouse Theater in Twisp has new productions and concerts at least monthly.

Festivals: The Methow Valley puts on a number of seasonal festivals, including Blues and Chamber music festivals, car shows, 49er Days Round Up, Rodeos, a hot air balloon festival, art shows and sporting events for skiers, bikers, runners, dog sleds and motorized vehicles.
